A short documentary about the renowned Florida State University Flying High Circus going behind the scenes and witnessing their preparation, dedication, and motivation towards running off and joining the circus.
In my role for the short film project, I served as the primary editor, responsible for crafting the narrative by assembling footage in collaboration with the Producer and Director. This included sequencing scenes to convey the story effectively and aligning with the creative vision of the project. Beyond editing, I undertook various key roles to ensure the film's quality and cohesion. This encompassed color grading to establish the visual tone, sound design to enhance the auditory experience, integrating music to complement the narrative, implementing transitions for seamless flow, and overall organization of all film elements to maintain project efficiency. As the lead editor, I encountered challenges such as limited b-roll footage. To address this, I utilized strategic editing methods to maximize the impact of available footage and effectively tell the story within the constraints. Additionally, I took on the responsibilities of a First Assistant Camera, providing crucial support to the Director of Photography. This involved shooting b-roll footage, conducting interviews, setting up lighting arrangements, configuring audio equipment for optimal sound capture, and filming reporter stand-ups. During production, I assumed the lead for filming reporter stand-ups, because our DP was unable to attend, demonstrating my capability to take charge of crucial on-set tasks.
